Mamebu

Mamebu is made by mixing flour with a little salt, kneading it with water, dividing it into thumb-sized pieces, adding walnuts and brown sugar, and shaping it into balls to prevent the filling from falling out. This is a local dish from Yamagata-cho, Kuji City, which is filled with the wishes of people to be diligent, healthy, successful, and live safely. It is often made during celebratory occasions such as festivals and New Year's Day.
